Conference Calls: We will hold three conference calls prior to the trip for guests who have reserved their spot. Conference call attendance is not required but is encouraged as we will discuss pertinent trip information and answer questions at the end. Calls will be recorded for playback later if someone is unable to make it. Guests will be notified of conference call details at the email address on file.

Guests with Special Needs and/or Disabilities: Any guest with special needs or disabilities should notate such disability within the registration form. We will make reasonable attempts to accommodate any special needs; however, we are not responsible for the failure of any third party including hotels, transportation services, restaurants, and so on to accommodate any special needs. We are also unable to physically lift or transport guests in and out of any vehicles. Therefore, any guest requiring such assistance must be accompanied by a qualified care person.

Meals, Snacks, and Beverages: Guests are responsible for all food, snacks, and beverages that are not included in the tour package. The tour package includes daily breakfast, one Welcome Meal (lunch and dinner) and one Farewell Meal (lunch or dinner).

Photography and Video Policy: We believe that a picture is worth a thousand words and enjoy sharing the highlights of our tours through photography and video footage. Please notify us immediately if you do not wish to be included in any photos or video. 

  • Itinerary

    Day 1 - Arrival (Accra, Ghana)

    Arrival at the Kotoka International Airport where we will transport you to your 4-star hotel. You will then be able to get unpacked and settled in to relax and enjoy the hotel's amenities. Later that day we will treat everyone to a Welcome Lunch or Dinner where we will have an opportunity to meet one another.

    Day 2  - Accra

    After having breakfast we will embark upon our tour of Ghana's capital city of Accra! The tour will include the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Art Village for Drumming Lessons; Independence Arch; WEB Dubois Pan-African Museum; local restaurant.

    Days 3-4: Kumasi 

    After breakfast we will pack all of our belongings and check out of the hotel for our transport to Kumasi. We will have our Kumasi City Tour which includes Kente Weaving; Cocoa Tour; Naming Ceremony; Manhyia Palace; Adinkra Stamps Printing; and Okomfo Anokye Sword site.

    Days 5-6: Cape Coast

    After breakfast we will then check out of the hotel and depart for Cape Coast. Along the way we will stop at the Assin Manso Slave River which is the site of 'Last Bath' before our ancestors were taken to the slave dungeons. We will explore Kakum National Park where those who wish to do so can walk across the famous suspension bridge. Others who want to simply enjoy the scenery can relax in outdoor lounge.

    Once in Cape Coast we will experience a private tour of the Cape Coast Slave Castle and the "Door of No Return". Following the tour we will have lunch at a nearby seaside restaurant. You will then have the remainder of the evening to relax and enjoy at your leisure.

    Day 7 - Accra

    After breakfast we will check out of the hotel and leave for Accra. We will then visit the Aburi Botanical Gardens and check into the hotel. You can spend the remainder of the evening enjoying the hotel amenities, explore the city, take a trip to the mall, and have a nice dinner.

    Day 8 - Accra & Departure

    We will treat everyone to a Farewell Lunch or Dinner as we take the time to reflect, take pictures, enjoy a meal, and say farewell.

    When it is time we will check out of the hotel and leave for the airport for departure.

    Roommates

    Trip packages are offered in both single and double-occupancy. Although every effort is taken to secure two-bed rooms, on some occasions the double occupancy will feature a single bed and rollaway bed, murphy bed, or sleeper sofa. We advise only selecting the double-occupancy package to share a room with someone that you know; Dreamy Tropical Travel will not be held responsible or liable for any claims or issues arising out of shared rooming.

    Payments

    By submission of a complete registration form and deposit you will reserve your spot on the trip. Final payment for all remaining trip fees are due eighty (80) days before departure. Bookings made less than 80 days prior to departure require full payment.

    Cancellation Policy - If notice of cancellation is received before final payment is due, the deposit will be retained along with the Travel Protection payment. Cancellation penalty shown is below:

    • 160 to 81 days prior to U.S departure date - $ 300 per person 
    • 80 to 46 days prior to U.S departure date - 80% of trip price
    • 45 days less prior to departure - 100% of trip price

    Any early return expenses will be your responsibility. Due to contractual obligations, there are no refunds for absence or early departure from a trip, including but not limited to missed hotels, transfers, meals or sightseeing cruises or optional extensions. Dreamy Tropical Travel strongly advises that you to purchase travel insurance which usually covers such circumstances (you must confirm this however by reviewing the insurance policy carefully).

    If you require and reserve airport transfers and did not purchase your flights as a part of your trip package, you will need to provide your arrival and departure flight information to us between at least 65 days before flight departure. It is your responsibility to update us with any changes to your flight schedule to ensure that you receive your transfers. Failure to do so may result in missing these services and no refund shall be due for missed transfers resulting from missing or outdated flight information.

    Although every good faith effort is made, there are circumstances which arise that are unplanned and outside of the control of our Tour Operator (Operator). The Operator will be responsible for supplying the services and accommodations described in the itinerary, except where they cannot be supplied or the itinerary is changed due to delays or other causes of whatever kind or nature beyond the Operator’s control. In such cases, the Operator will seek to supply comparable services, accommodations and itineraries and there shall be no refund in these circumstances. 

    Additionally, by booking this trip you acknowledge that you are voluntarily participating, knowing there are risks. You agree to accept any and all risks based on your decision to participate in such activities.

    Airfare is not included; it is your responsibility to plan and secure your flight. 

  • Terms and Conditions

    Dreamy Tropical Travel's responsibilities for this tour begins once guests arrive at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana and ends once guests board at said airport for airplane departure. Travel Africa is not liable for any incidences in connection with service of any aircraft, vessel,  hotels, and providers of international services, motor or any other conveyance used by the guest. While we do our best to plan for any unfortunate events, Travel Africa, its partners, suppliers, or representatives are not responsible for any weather, societal activities, errors or omissions, any personal injury, losses of limbs, loss of life, theft, losses or any additional expenses caused by changes in flight or other services, illness, or other  acts of God.

    Dreamy Tropical Travel has the right to amend or withdraw any feature of the tour, to change hotel, and to amend the itinerary as needed for the ease and safety of our guests. If such changes are required they will be without cost to Dreamy Tropical Travel and its partners or suppliers. Guests will be responsible for any incidental costs that may be incurred by such changes or substitutions.

    By registering and submitting a deposit you are considered in agreement with the above terms and conditions.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. What should I pack?

    A. Ghana is located along the Gulf of Guinea and has tropical, breezy, balmy weather so you should prepare as if you were going to any other tropical island.

    Q. Do I need travel insurance?

    A. Although we make our best efforts to avoid any issues, sometimes the unexcepted happens. You may need to cancel or reschedule your trip. Or maybe you have a medical emergency on your trip that your insurance does not cover.​Travel insurance is not required for the trip, but we recommend it. If you choose not to secure travel insurance, you will need to sign a waiver stating that it was offered to you but was declined. We can assist in acquiring travel insurance if you are interested.

    Q. Is this trip right for me?

    A. If you are looking for authentic cultural experiences, meeting new people, eating local cuisine, while enjoying your stay in 4-star accommodations, then this is the trip for you! Some of the activities on this trip involve moderate physical activity. However, if there is something you do not feel comfortable participating in, please let us know as soon as possible.

    Q. How much money should I bring? 

    A. That is at your discretion; however, we suggest at least $400.00. As a reminder, lunches, dinners, and alcohol packages are not included, so these expenses should be considered when deciding what amount of money to bring. For reference, a meal typically begin at around $8.00 and can go up from there.Additionally, many of the sites that we will see on the trip contain gift shops for souvenirs which you may be interested in purchasing.

    Q. Do I need to tip?

    A. Tipping is customary and encouraged at around 15%.

    Q. Are there items I should bring?

    A. We recommend bringing a plug adapter (Ghana voltage is 230 volts); unlocked cell phone; toiletries (lotions, toilet tissue; feminine items; wet wipes); bathing suits/swim wear; a travel iron; any necessary medications; luggage locks with name tags; mosquito repellant; a candle (customary for slave castles); beach towels; sun dresses; and sandals.

    Q. What is the tour group size?

    A. The group will range between 10-15 guests.

    Q. Will I like the food?

    Guests will have access to food varying from familiar American foods to the local cuisine. We encourage guests to fully engage in the travel experience by trying some of the local dishes.

    Q. What type of travel documents will I need to go to Ghana?

    A.  U.S. citizens will need a valid U.S. Passport (valid for at least 6 months past the return date); a visa is also required. Non-U.S. citizens may require additional documentation.Although Travel Africa offers assistance with these processes, it it ultimately the guest's responsibility to make sure that all travel documents are properly secured.     Q. Will I have any free time?

    Yes, we have spare time built in the itinerary as to allow guests to make this trip their own. Guests are welcome to do some shopping, catch a movie, enjoy dinner, or experience the nightlife.
